How to find out your bra size?

Choosing the right bra size is very important for the comfort of your breasts and back, for maintaining correct posture and for the beauty of your décolleté.

But bra sizes are not the same all over the world and, from brand to brand, we can find numbers and letters that we are not used to.

To calculate your bra size you need to know two of your measurements: your breast circumference and your chest circumference .

Remember that these measurements can change with age which can lead to sagging breasts or with changes in weight .

The breast circumference (A)

The circumference of the breast is taken at the height of the nipple , maintaining an upright posture, with shoulders and back perfectly straight, using a seamstress' centimeter: do not tighten it too much, position it parallel to the floor and take the measurement. You will need this to identify your bra cup .

The chest circumference (B)

The circumference of the chest, or underbust, is taken at the bra band and the closure hooks. Always remaining in a perfectly straight posture and keeping the centimeter stretched around the torso and parallel to the floor. This measurement will help identify your bra size .

How is the bra cup calculated?

The cup size is generally expressed in letters and is obtained by subtracting the chest circumference from the breast circumference, to which 12.5 cm must be added.

Let's take an example: if the breast circumference is 98 cm and the chest circumference is 80 cm, calculation: 98 – (80 + 12.5) = 5.5.

How is bra size calculated?

In Italy the bra size is obtained from the measurement of the chest circumference from which 60 is subtracted and the result is divided by 5.

Example: if the chest circumference is 80 the calculation will be 80 – 60 = 20; 20 : 5 = 4. The bra size is IV.

For the European size it is done even earlier, given that it corresponds exactly to the chest circumference: 80 cm, size 80.
